I was born in Humacao, PR and moved to Florida at the age of three. I grew up not having any photographs of my mother’s side of the family and how I wish I knew what my grandfather looked like before his untimely passing. I have never met him and there is not one photograph of him. On my father’s side, my grandmother has saved albums filled with family photos. I would sit in my room as a child looking at old photos of family members dressed in their best. Old black and white photos of great uncles and great aunts dressed in what was fashionable in their time. I can remember sitting their thinking, what were they like? Was this their favorite outfit? As I grew older, I learned the value of having priceless photos of family members who are no longer on earth with us. That inspired me to get a camera of my own and start documenting my life story through photographs. As time went on and life got in the way, I made the mistake of putting the camera down and letting moments pass me by until I had my son. By this time I had a proper camera and on his first month milestone I picked that camera back up and have not put it down since. To me, this is a way of sharing your story without words for your loved ones and their future loved ones to share, cherish, and hold long after we are gone. So what better way to share your life story by having me capture it and having them turn into heirlooms?
“I am over the moon! Yarelis not only worked with my last minute request but my very picky request for location. Where other photographers would have bailed, she stood by my requests and photographed my 1 year old wonderfully! I could not have asked for a better more understanding photographer! Booking her again soon!!”
