I normally don’t write a lot, but I want to take this time to raise awareness for this family and one of their daughters, Willow who won the battle against Leukemia. Last week I was contact by a fellow photographer, mentor, and friend Devin from Wildflower Photo and Film to photograph an End of Chemo party the following weekend after finding out that the original photographer was no longer in contact with the family. Of course, I was delighted and eager to help out. Devin quickly put me into contact with Kelsey from Two Sisters Ranch in Dade City, Florida who was hosting this special event which in turn put me into contact with Willow’s mom Jen.

Jen is such a wonderful person, from the first few texts we exchanged we clicked. She is friendly and warm and loves both her daughters so much. I felt in my heart that this is where I was supposed to be in this point in time and give this family the gift of memories. To give my services to such a good cause, only God knows why he chooses me to do the job. Willow was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL) at just 3 years old. And so, it began, long days of tests, pills, scans, and fevers, this little girl proved to be even stronger than your average person. Now five Willow is in remission and her family wanted to celebrate that in a big way with an End of Chemo party and having her take her last chemo pill.

This day was a blast for any kid. There were ponies, Honey and Bella from Honey’s Mini Therapy Adventures, ice shavings from Kona Ice Wesley Chapel, baked goods from Buttermilk Provisions (Seriously, this place is so good and offer vegan options!), a unicorn bouncy house, and so much more.

This family was very welcoming, offered me food and refreshments as soon as I got there. I can feel the love and support they had for Willow and her family. I want to extend my thanks again to Jen for trusting in me to captures these moments that her family will have forever. Thank you all for the opportunity to meet this family and let me be involved in such an intimate yet joyous moment.
